It is no longer possible to apply for a standard visa at the embassy; all applicants must now obtain an eVisa (electronic visa) online. The typical entry visa is valid for three months from the specified arrival date and allows for a stay of up to 30 days. The business eVisa is issued for a single entry only and cannot be used for re-entry once the holder has left the country.
Starting from October 1, 2024, all visitors to Zanzibar (excluding residents with a Tanzanian residence permit) are required to purchase mandatory travel insurance through the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) for the duration of their stay, which can be up to 90 days.
This insurance must be obtained exclusively from ZIC, as other international travel insurance policies will not be accepted. For more details, please visit the ZIC website.
