Overview
Namibia officially launched its online visa application system on March 3, 2025.
This innovative system allows travelers to apply for visas before arrival, reducing waiting times and minimizing congestion at border points, ultimately ensuring a smoother and more efficient entry process into Namibia.
An eVisa on Arrival for Namibia is a pre-approval document authorising the holder to travel to Namibia. The visa itself is stamped into your passport upon arrival and permits a stay of up to 90 days.
In total, visitors from the following 90 countries and territories can now apply for an e-visa before travelling to Namibia:
African countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Madagascar, Mauritania, Niger, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda and Western Sahara.
Other countries: Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Belarus, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Moldavia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Vatican City, Venezuela and Vietnam.
The following 12 entry points into Namibia can be used by travelers holding an e-Visa:
- Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport
- Walvis Bay International Airport
- Walvis Bay Harbour
- Ariamsvlei border post (with South Africa)
- Impalila Island border post
- Katima Mulilo border post (with Zambia)
- Mohembo border post (with Botswana)
- Ngoma border post (with Botswana)
- Noordoewer border post (with South Africa)
- Oranjemund border post (with South Africa)
- Oshikango border post (with Angola)
- Trans-Kalahari border post (with Botswana)
The following documents must be carried with the visa on arrival when entering the country:
- A printed eVisa
- An original passport that is valid for at least 6 months and has at least three free pages
- A return or onward travel ticket
- Proof of international health insurance (english language)
- Hotel booking
- Proof of sufficient financial means
- If travelling with underage children: Birth certificate and parental consent form (if only one parent is travelling).
You no longer need to send your original passport. A clear scan or photo of the main passport page (showing your personal information and photo) is sufficient for the Namibia eVisa application.
Please ensure that the entire page is visible, including the machine-readable strip at the bottom — no parts should be cropped out, as shown in the example below:

Once your Namibia eVisa is approved, it will be sent to you by email.
Please print out the eVisa and carry it with you when you travel.
It normally takes 5 - 7 working days for the Namibia Immigration Department to process your application.
However, the processing time may be longer due to the large number of applicants or public holidays. As such, we highly recommend you to start your application for eVisa to Namibia approx. 2 weeks before departure.
