The India e-Visa is an electronic travel authorisation for tourists. When applying for an e-Visa, you do not need to submit your passport or any original documents to an embassy or consulate. The entire application process is conveniently completed online via our website.
Once your application has been approved, your e-Visa will be issued electronically prior to your departure for India. It is valid for 1 year from the date of issue and allows multiple entries.
Upon arrival in India, your passport will be stamped with the corresponding visa at the immigration checkpoint.
Foreign travelers and holders of an OCI card (Overseas Citizen of India) must complete an electronic form (e‑Arrival Card) up to 72 hours before entering India. The form includes details like passport number, nationality, purpose of visit, address in India and contact details. It replaces the previous paper-based form that was typically filled out upon arrival or during the flight.
The e‑Arrival Card can be submitted either via the official website of the Indian authorities or conveniently through the Visa Su-Swagatam app.
If you instruct us to obtain the eVisa and Arrival Card, we will charge a service fee of only CHF 20.00 plus VAT for the Arrival Card.
The India Tourist eVisa is accessible to travelers from more than 160 countries. Eligible nationalities include, but are not limited to, Switzerland, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Australia and Brazil.
Eligable Countries to apply for an eVisa
Please note: If travelers or their spouses, parents, or grandparents were born in Pakistan or ever held Pakistani nationality, they are not eligible for an Indian e-Visa. They must apply for a regular visa
With an approved electronic visa in hand, travelers can enter India via the following checkpoints:
Entry by cruise ship is allowed with the ETA through 5 designated seaports namely Mumbai, Chennai, Cochin, Goa and Mangalore seaports.
If arriving through any other port of entry, please apply for an Regular Indian Visa.
All visitors to India must legally possess a valid visa.
A regular visa is acquired through an application process, requiring travelers to submit their original passport along with necessary documents for approval at the Indian Embassy or Consulate. This visa is stamped in the passport. The process is more time-consuming and involves more paperwork.
Eligible travelers visiting for leisure, business, or medical reasons can apply for an Indian visa online (eVisa), receiving their visa electronically. Upon arrival in India, the visa will be stamped in their passport, and biometrics (fingerprints) will also be collected at that time.
We recommend applying at least 14 days before your intended travel date.
Upon approval of your visa application, the confirmation will be sent to you via email. It is essential to print a copy to accompany your passport when traveling to India. We recommend printing two copies, retaining one for your records. Upon arrival in India, you must present your e-Visa along with your passport. At the airport, your biometric information, including scanned fingerprints, will be collected, and a visa stamp will be placed inside your passport.
