Tourist Visa is granted to a Foreigner who does not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sight-seeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives, attending a short term yoga programme. No other activity/purpose is permissible on a Tourist Visa.
Regardless of the visa’s validity period, each visit is limited to a maximum stay of 90 days, which is non-extendable, and changing the purpose of the visit is not permitted. The processing time for tourist visas typically takes 5-7 working days.
